Sweets and spicy: Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies

Autumn arrives, and we all do it.  We all get into the mood for crisp days and evenings and for our homes to smell like cinnamon from all the baking we want to do.  Well, here’s a recipe that takes chocolate chip cookies and spices them up for autumn.


2 c. flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

½ c. butter/margarine

1 c. sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 c. pumpkin

1 c. chocolate chips

1 c. nuts (optional)


Heat the oven to 350°.  Spray cookie sheets with Pam (or generic equivalent).

Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and pumpkin.


Add flour, soda, cinnamon,  nutmeg, nuts and chocolate chips.


Drop on greased baking sheet about 2” apart.  Bake about 15 minutes.

Makes about 4 dozen.  With the size of the cookies I made tonight, there were 60 cookies in all…minus the one or two The Roommate and I have already eaten.  Seriously…these are some of the easiest cookies I’ve ever made.
